Celebrations! News from SPR 2012
Results of the Editor Search Committee
Dr. Dorothy Bulas, Chair of the Editor Search Committee, announced the committee had completed its work. The committee recommended and the Board approved the appointment of Dr. Peter Strouse for the role of Editor for the Americas, Pediatric Radiology, when Dr. Thomas L. Slovis steps down on December 31, 2012.
Dr. Strouse has served as Assistant Editor since 2009. Fellow Assistant Editors are Drs. Brian Coley and Cynthia Rigsby.
Dr. Tom Slovis, Editor of Pediatric Radiology, was also recognized in San Francisco. Dr. Don Frush, presiding SPR President (and former assistant editor) announced that the Board of Directors and the Publications Committee had established the Dr. Thomas Slovis Award for Journalism. The award named for Dr. Slovis will recognize the best basic science paper in the journal. The best clinical paper will continue to be named the Walter Berdon Award. Dr. Berdon expressed his pleasure at the establishment of this award named for Dr. Slovis.

News from the ACR meeting
Marta Hernanz-Schulman, MD, FACR was elected to the Board of Chancellors as the Chair of the Commission on Pediatric Radiology. Dr. Schulman previously served as the Chair of the Commission's Committee on Guidelines and Standards. Dr. Schulman thanked outgoing Chair, Dr. Don Frush for his leadership and 6 years of service as the inagural Pediatric Commission chair.
David C. Kushner, MD, FACR was elected to the Board of Chancellors as Chair of the Commission on Membership and Communications.
