Mission Statement and Statement of Purpose

The Society's mission statement appears at the bottom of every page of the website:

The Society for Pediatric Radiology is dedicated to fostering
excellence in pediatric health care through
imaging and image-guided care.

The Society for Pediatric Radiology is committed to improving the health care of the patient by providing excellence of diagnostic imaging and treatment of neonates, infants, children and adolescents.

The SPR will disseminate information/education to all pediatric health care providers who utilize radiologic imaging techniques. Primarily through its annual national meeting and its dedicated monthly journal, Pediatric Radiology, the SPR promotes scientific review and critical appraisal of the specialty for its members and for the international medical community. Moreover, the SPR will establish liaisons and provide information to local, state, regional, and international organizations that have responsibility and authority for the development of both regulations and guidelines governing the medical imaging of pediatric patients.

The SPR will promote scientific inquiry among its members for the advancement of pediatric imaging with a commitment for research funding. The SPR promotes research among its members for the advancement of pediatric radiology by raising dedicated funds from its members and from allied companies, and disseminating multiple research grants annually in a peer-review basis. This activity is directed by the SPR Research and Education Foundation, an independent collaborator of the SPR. Advancements in the science of pediatric imaging will be made through clinical research, basic biomedical research and health services research (technology assessment, clinical practice guidelines, outcomes research).

The Society for Pediatric Radiology is dedicated to fostering excellence in pediatric health care through imaging and image-guided care.
