NQF 2009 Safe Practices for Better Healthcare includes Pediatric Imaging
- The National Quality Forum (NQF) included in its recently released 2009 Safe Practices for Better Healthcare language advising health care professionals that “when CT imaging studies are undertaken on children, ‘child-size’ techniques should be used to reduce unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation.” Read more......
- This important measure, item 34 in the report, comes after the ACR, on behalf of the Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging, submitted the Image Gently concept to NQF as a safe practice and supported its inclusion.
- The Safe Practice language mirrors the guidance of the Image Gently campaign. Safe Practices is a list of consensus standards identified to guide healthcare systems in providing the safest, most effective care possible. To accelerate the pace of adoption for the Safe Practices nationwide, a year-long webinar series will begin in April to provide Safe Practices implementation strategies and commentary from experts in the field.
